How does Three Day Rule work?

Three Day Rule’s February 2026 review post describes a seven-step process. The purchase is an active search supported by preparation and feedback. You are paying someone to find potential dates, rather than simply adding your name to a database.

  1. Free consultation. Start with a call about what you want and how the service works. Use this conversation to distinguish a paid search from free candidate registration.
  2. New-member strategist call. The next conversation considers mutual fit. Three Day Rule says it accepts clients when it believes it can deliver a good experience.
  3. Personal matchmaker assigned. Your matchmaker becomes the point of contact for your search. Ask who will manage the New York part of the work.
  4. Candidate search. Three Day Rule searches existing relationships, its network and recruited candidates. The homepage claims a network of more than 250,000 singles; that is a national figure.
  5. Preparation. The process includes coaching, photography and styling. Ask which services appear in your own proposal and when you can use them.
  6. Dates. Three Day Rule shows photos before dates.
  7. Feedback. Discuss the date with your matchmaker so the next search can reflect what you learned.

Fast Company’s October 2025 report describes a team of a matchmaker, coach and recruiter. In an August 2026 interview, founder Talia Goldstein said the company may interview 50–100 candidates before sending a match. That describes screening effort, rather than a promised number of dates.

Three Day Rule also says packages allow pauses and conversion of unused membership time into coaching. Clarify the practical rules before treating either feature as part of your plan.

What are the three things Three Day Rule sells?

Paid human matchmaking buys an active search with a personal matchmaker. Three Day Rule’s own published starting price is $6,300. This is the service to discuss if you want someone searching on your behalf, arranging introductions and taking feedback.

The free database makes you a potential introduction for a paying client. Three Day Rule calls database membership a more passive approach. A profile gives the company a way to consider you when a client’s search fits; it does not buy you your own search. The website terms say selected database members or recruits may undergo criminal-record screening.

The app uses an AI matchmaker called Tai. The App Store listing offers a free app and a $34.99 subscription promising four introductions each month. The listing does not show the billing period for that price, so it should not be described as a verified monthly charge.

The app launched in October 2025 at a reported $99 a month. Wired’s February 2026 review reported $25 a month and rated the app 6/10. Those older prices describe earlier offers. An app review also cannot establish how well the paid human service works.

How much does Three Day Rule cost?

Three Day Rule says premium memberships start at $6,300 in its February 14, 2026 post. Three Day Rule publishes no full price list. The starting figure therefore gives you a budget threshold, rather than a complete description of what a New York proposal will include.

The table separates the company’s published offer from historical reporting and competitor descriptions. Compare the service, term and source together.

Secondary sites list $6,300 for three months and $9,500 for six months. Those package descriptions come from competitors and are labeled accordingly above. Do not assume the term or minimum applies to every proposal just because the entry price matches Three Day Rule’s own figure.

Ask for one written breakdown covering the active search period, introductions, coaching, photography and any pause rules. Then ask what happens if a presented candidate is declined. That answer changes the value of a package even when the quoted fee stays the same.

Our guide to what NYC matchmakers cost explains how to compare different purchase units without treating an app subscription as equivalent to a personal search.

What do the guarantee, refunds and contract cover?

The app promises four introductions each month. That promise belongs to the app subscription. No guarantee wording was found on Three Day Rule’s human matchmaking marketing pages in the supplied October research.

The website terms say matching may produce no matches or contact at all. Those terms expressly exclude clients purchasing matchmaking services, whose purchase is governed by a separate agreement. The paid client agreement is not public. The website’s no-match disclaimer therefore does not establish the obligations in a paid search.

VIDA, a competitor, reports that each presented match counts toward the guaranteed minimum even when a client declines to meet. Ask Three Day Rule to identify the corresponding clause in your proposal. A candidate presentation and a completed date are different events.

For New York contracts, General Business Law § 394-c provides a three-business-day cancellation right. The law also addresses specified monthly referrals and refunds after two successive months without referrals. How those provisions apply depends on the agreement and circumstances.

Before paying, request the paid agreement’s cancellation instructions, refund provisions and definition of an introduction. Ask what happens when no suitable candidate is available. Read the app promise, website terms and paid agreement within their own scope; none substitutes for the other.

What do clients say on BBB, Trustpilot, Yelp and Reddit?

Three Day Rule reviews need to be read by product and reviewer role. A paying human-matchmaking client, a free database candidate and an app user have bought or joined different things. Check which experience a review describes before using it to judge your proposed purchase.

Trustpilot showed 4.3 from 87 reviews in the supplied October 30, 2026 research. The profile was claimed in January 2026 and showed a paid Trustpilot subscription. The recorded distribution was 75% five-star and 17% one-star.

The supplied Trustpilot summary identifies one-star concerns about money paid relative to service, refused refunds, contact details shared with a client and a free candidate’s experience. These are reviewers’ accounts. A free candidate’s concern is relevant to database membership, but should be distinguished from a paying client’s account of an active search.

Yelp’s national listing showed 4.2 from 296 reviews, checked October 30, 2026. The listing uses a Santa Monica address. The supplied research found no separate New York listing. That makes the Yelp score a company-level signal rather than a measure of the New York team’s performance.

The BBB profile and BBB complaint record are additional places to examine disputes and the business’s replies. Read the original complaint and response together when assessing a refund disagreement. A complaint records a dispute; it does not establish a finding against the business.

The supplied research also identifies a 2020–24 Reddit discussion and the 2023 “Mid-Range matchmaking services?” thread. Anonymous forum accounts are another source of questions to take into a consultation.

Review platforms collect different samples. Invited reviews can favor positive experiences, while complaint channels concentrate disputes. Use the record to ask about search pace, communication, candidate consent and refund rules, then compare the answers with the written agreement.

How does Three Day Rule operate in New York?

Three Day Rule’s New York page describes a network across the boroughs and says matchmakers vet potential matches face to face. The same page offers the free database.

No New York office address or specifically identified NYC matchmaker is published in the supplied research. Three Day Rule’s contact page lists weekday phone hours of 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Eastern. Ask who would handle your search and how that person meets local candidates.

Wired’s New York-based app reviewer reported that about three-quarters of the reviewer’s matches lived outside NYC. That is one app experience, rather than evidence about the human service’s candidate pool. GDI reported in September 2026 that Three Day Rule promoted the app with a matchmaking bus in New York.

Three Day Rule also has an LGBTQ+ service page. Whatever your search, make your acceptable travel radius explicit before discussing the size of the overall network.

What happened to Three Day Rule on Shark Tank?

Three Day Rule appeared in Shark Tank season 4, episode 25, which TheTVDB dates to May 17, 2013; the founder’s partner sought $200,000 for 10% of the business. The pitch did not secure an investment, according to Women.com’s recap, and the company subsequently continued operating, with human matchmaking and the separate app documented in the sources above.

What are Three Day Rule’s pros and cons?

Who is Three Day Rule for, and who should skip it?

Three Day Rule is worth considering if you can budget from $6,300, want human search support and prefer photos before dates. The preparation and feedback process may appeal if you want help beyond making an introduction.

Skip the paid consultation process if you only want a free profile: database registration is the relevant route. Choose the app discussion if you want Tai’s introductions rather than a personal matchmaker. If you need a published NYC office, a named local practitioner or complete terms before any conversation, Three Day Rule’s public information leaves those questions unanswered.
